Student Chapters
The Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) wishes to get university students more involved with the organization and to improve their careers in music. MTNA is sponsoring several student chapters in universities across the country. The goals of chapters are:
- To provide educational, musical, social, and professional experiences that augment the student's formal course of study;
- To acquaint students with professional opportunities and career options in the field of music; and
- To develop professional leadership skills.
MMTA wants to form student chapters in every university that has a music program, but needs MMTA members to be sponsors and/or advisers. If you are interested in forming a student chapter at your university -- whether you are an MMTA member or a student look to bring a chapter to your school -- contact President Nilly Shilo at president@mmta.net. For more information, consult the MTNA Web site at www.mtna.org.
