Letter from the Chair

We have organized various centers and contacted experienced, well qualified Evaluators. Students will perform their selected repertoire in a one-on-one evaluation session and receive written and verbal feedback, as well as an opportunity to practice suggested improvements with the evaluator during their assessment.

There are no specific repertoire requirements. The teacher and student are free to select 2 pieces to be performed. Memory is encouraged but not required. The length of the evaluation is 15 min for beginning and intermediate students and 20 minutes for advanced students. It's recommended that students from beginner to late intermediate use no more than 6 minutes of playing time and more advanced students no more than 9 minutes to allow the evaluator enough time to work with the student and give feedback.

We are now appealing to teachers who have not experienced the benefits of this Evaluation to please contact the President for more details. We would also love to add a Center(s) to offer MAE to more teachers in MA. We need volunteers to Chair and help set up new Centers.

Now is the perfect time to start thinking about entering students in this evaluation. The deadlines start at the beginning of February, and the Dates for the Centers are in March and end in April. (see below for dates and places.)

I encourage you to discuss with your students and their parents the possibility of entering in such a worthwhile activity. Please contact the center directors if you have any questions.  Hope to hear from you soon!!
