Inaugural Alison S. Barr Innovation Award

We are delighted to announce the inaugural Alison S. Barr (ASB) Innovation Award for Studio Teachers!

The Alison S. Barr Innovation Award was established to honor the remarkable contributions of Alison Barr, longtime MMTA board member and recipient of MTNA’s 2024 Teacher of the Year Award.

This annual award supports MMTA members who are using music as a force for connection, creativity, and positive change. Projects may include work in areas such as:

  • Community Engagement and Cultural Diplomacy

  • Social Action and Advocacy

  • Virtual Learning and Technology Integration

  • Professional Growth and Mentorship
